The Legend of the Donkey & Easter Egg Hunt

Join us for a special family-friendly Easter celebration at Double Hearts Ranch! In partnership with Brush Arbor Church, this meaningful event brings together faith, storytelling, and fun for children and families in our community.

The morning will begin with a presentation of “The Legend of the Donkey,” shared by Pastor Larry Hinds, telling the beautiful story of the humble donkey and the cross marking many donkeys carry on their backs—symbolizing the donkey who carried Jesus into Jerusalem. It is a wonderful way for families to reflect on the meaning of Easter together.

Following the story, children ages 2–11 will enjoy a traditional Easter Egg Hunt on the ranch. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Ernie and Trigo, the beloved donkeys of Double Hearts Ranch, who proudly display the cross on their backs and remind us of the blessing and symbolism behind the story.

This event is a joyful way to celebrate the Easter season with faith, family, and fun in a beautiful ranch setting.

Celebrate the beauty of spring and the spirit of Mother’s Day at Double Hearts Ranch during our charming Boots & Blooms Ranch Tea Party. 

This special afternoon gathering blends the elegance of a traditional tea party with the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere of the ranch.

Guests will enjoy a delightful three-tier afternoon tea service featuring a selection of teas, finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries. 

Surrounded by the beauty of the countryside, this event offers the perfect opportunity to slow down, relax, and share meaningful conversation with the important women in your life.

The afternoon will also include a special guest speaker who will share reflections celebrating motherhood, connection, and the relationships that shape our lives.

Whether you attend with your mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, or friends, the Boots & Blooms Ranch Tea Party promises a memorable afternoon filled with warmth, fellowship, and the charm of spring at the ranch.

The holiday season can be especially tender for those walking through grief. Join us at Double Hearts Ranch for Reins of Hope: Healing from Grief and Loss through Connection with Horses — a restorative afternoon designed to help you reconnect, reflect, and rediscover balance and peace.

 Through the gentle presence of horses and the creative process of developing a Neurographic Art Journal, participants will explore healthy ways to navigate loss, release emotion, and cultivate personal renewal in a peaceful ranch setting. This reflective art process helps calm the mind and open new pathways for healing — no art experience required.

 What to Expect:

Guided interactions with horses that encourage grounding, trust, and      emotional healing

Step-by-step creation of your own Neurographic Art Journal as a tool      for reflection and renewal

Quiet reflection and time to connect with others who understand the      journey of loss

 Who Should Attend:
This program is designed for adults experiencing grief or loss of any kind — whether from the death of a loved one, a major life transition, or other personal challenges. No prior experience with horses or art is necessary, only an open heart and the desire for healing and connection.

 Please note: Portions of this program will take place outdoors with the horses. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather, including layers, closed-toe shoes, and warm outerwear as needed.

Space is limited to 8 participants to ensure a personalized and supportive experience — early registration is encouraged.

The spirit of the season is coming alive at Double Hearts Ranch! Join us for an afternoon of old-fashioned holiday fun at our annual Horses & Hearts for Tots: A Christmas Wrap-Up at the Ranch — a heartfelt event supporting the Toys for Tots campaign coordinated by Douglass Community Services of Northeast Missouri.

Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to help make Christmas brighter for local children in need for admission. 

Families will enjoy a heartwarming ranch experience filled with holiday cheer and community connection.

Enjoy a relaxing hayride, meet and feed our beloved horses and donkeys, and take part in classic ranch games like cow roping, straw bale tic-tac-toe, and cornhole. As the afternoon winds down, gather around the campfire to roast marshmallows and sip warm apple cider and hot chocolate while celebrating the true meaning of the season — compassion, generosity, and togetherness.

Please dress warmly and wear weather-appropriate clothing for this outdoor celebration of giving and joy.

Come walk through the Christmas story through the eyes of the humble donkey who carried Mary to Bethlehem. This interactive event is perfect for families, children, church groups, and anyone who loves the true meaning of Christmas!

✅ Dress Up & Pose in Our Nativity Costume Photo Booth
